November is Native American Heritage Month (NAHM), also known as American Indian and Alaska Native Heritage Month. It is a time to celebrate the rich and diverse ancestry, cultures, traditions, and histories of America's Indigenous people. According to the National Congress of American Indians, NAHM is also “an opportunity to educate our workforce, raise awareness about the uniqueness of Native people, and the myriad of ways in which tribal citizens have conquered challenges to maintain voice and dignity and to remain an influencing presence in a rapidly evolving nation.” Through a single donation to the Native American Heritage Month Fund, you will support Indigenous-led nonprofits focused on building Indigenous power, protecting and restoring land and culture, and strengthening and supporting healthy Native communities. A glacial lake outburst flood originating from the Chinese border from the Xizang/Tibet area caused significant flooding and mudslides in northern Nepal and at the border on August 26. More than 1,200 people have been confirmed dead and more than 5,000 are still reported missing. Homes, roads, bridges, power plants and other critical infrastructure have been destroyed or badly damaged. Multiple bridges and roads have been washed away leaving some of the affected communities extremely difficult to reach. National Cat Day, celebrated annually on October 29th, is a day to celebrate our feline friends and raise awareness around adopting cats from shelters, expressing our appreciation for the love and companionship they bring, and promoting their well-being. The following nonprofits are doing the critical work to shelter stray cats and connect them with loving homes as well as educate the public on the importance of protecting cats across the country. November 11th is Veteran's Day, a national day of recognition for veterans of the United States Armed Forces. The Veterans Day Fund features organizations that support the men and women who have served our country, as well as their families. These organizations provide a variety of services, including mental health and supportive services, financial assistance, and support for life after duty including job opportunities and community engagement. Veterans Day by the Numbers: 19.5 million – the approximate number of veterans in the United States 9 million – the number of veterans over the age of 65 5.06 million – the number of veterans receiving disability compensation 2 million – the number of female veterans of those receiving disability compensation 500k – the number of World War II veterans still living in the United States 1.56 million – the number of veterans in California, the highest number in the country 1.46 million – the number of veterans in Texas, the second-highest number in the country 11% – the percentage of veterans who experience homelessness 50% – the percentage of veterans experiencing homelessness who also live with a mental illness like PTSD Through a single donation to the Veterans Day Fund, you will support highly-rated organizations dedicated to supporting and honoring America's veterans. Progetto A.M.A.L. ODV is an Italian Third Sector organisation registered in the RUNTS. AMAL stands for Aid, Mobility, Learning and Liberty. It provides direct, transparent support to people affected by conflict, with a current focus on vulnerable families and young people in Gaza. There are two ways to contribute. First, colleagues can donate directly to Progetto AMAL. These donations can help fund structured initiatives such as scholarships, education pathways and emergency support.
